Convex scissor sharpening

The convex cutting edge is shaped on a rotating grinding surface using a guide arm, which gives precise control of the angle and movement of the scissors while grinding. That keeps the right curvature of the cutting geometry, which matters for the blades to slide smoothly and cut cleanly and precisely.

Under the microscope

The edge tells you what happened to it

I inspect every blade under the microscope before sharpening and during the work. That lets me follow the damage and the condition of the edge precisely and decide when enough material has come off for the result I want, without removing more than necessary.

Before. A nicked edge: small chips along the whole length of the blade.

After. The same edge after sharpening: straight, even and clean along its length.
